William Franklin Smoot's Obituary
William “Bud” Franklin Smoot, 78, of Culpeper, passed away May 28, 2025, at his residence. He was born September 19, 1946, to the late Arthur and Goldie Anna Riley Smoot.
Bud graduated from Rappahannock County High School. He retired from Giant Food after 35 years of service. On May 4, 1986, he won the VA Wildlife Citation for his brown trout at the Rose River.
Bud is survived by his daughters, Lisa Smoot (William Aldridge) and Debbie Sisk (Kenny); sister, Elizabeth “Sis” Smoot; brother, Gary Smoot; sister-in-law, Kathy Atkins; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Elizabeth “Wishie” Dwyer Smoot, and his brothers, Whitey and Bobby.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving the family will be Brian Catts, Rob Aldridge, Weston Gooden, Scott Smoot, Stevie Sealock, and Kevin Trice.
Honorary pallbearers will be William Aldridge and Kenny Sisk.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Heartland Hospice and Marsha Wood for their continued love and care for Bud. They would also like to thank his dear neighbors for assisting him when needed.
