William Douglas Newcomb's Obituary
William Douglas Newcomb, 71 of Fredericksburg went to be with the lord on Friday, February 9, 2018.
William was a loving husband and father to his family. After serving time in the US Army during Vietnam, he returned home to Virginia to continue his passion that started at an early age.
He loved to work on engines of all sorts. He studied small engine repair in high school and a work study program. Later in life he became an auto glass mechanic and in his spare time would rebuild classic cars for both himself and others. He first restored a classic old pickup truck and later rebuilt his baby, a 1939 Pontiac model 25 sedan. He collected all things dealing with cars, even restoring old fuel pumps, stop lights and old car signs for display. He collected model tow trucks for display and just loved all things auto related. He enjoyed NASCAR for many years until the death of his favorite driver Dale Earnhart Sr. He spent his spare time hanging out with his buddies that belonged to the “Virginia Stockers Elite Car Club.
William leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Nora Newcomb; and their son, David Newcomb (Jamie); as well as many other family members and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Trinity Episcopal Church located at 825 College Ave., Fredericksburg, 22401.
