I am so so sorry to hear of Gary’s passing. I only found out today that he passed. Gary and I spent a great amount of time talking about the Fire Service and one of our shared memories of William Billy WHISKEY Ellis whom I knew from my time employed with Fairfax Fire and Rescue. I first met Gary while helping with the Heroes Tribute of the Culpeper Chamber of Commerce and Culpeper Fest. He befriended me like I had known him for years. Even though I only knew him for a short time I can honestly and proudly say that I could call him a friend.

To Ellen and family: You have my sincere sympathy is the loss of your loved one. Gary made a mark on the community, but particularly on the Salem community in his efforts as a volunteer. His kind of service is appreciated and needed and, hopefully, will inspire others to step into his place now.

As you honor the memory of Gary, be so grateful for how he impacted you as individuals and as a big family. My prayers are with you as you go forward without him, but always remember the love that he had for you and others and his willingness to help his community.
