William Edward "Pee Wee" Chapman's Obituary
William Edward “Pee Wee” Chapman, 65, of Culpeper passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at his residence. He was born November 11, 1953 at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton to the late James Irving Chapman, Jr. and Gladys Hearns Chapman.
Pee Wee was a team member of Culpeper County High School 1973 boys’ basketball team state champions. They were the first and only team to accomplish a state championship. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and retired from VDOT.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Angela Jeffers Chapman; three children, Anita Chapman, Andrea Chapman, and Angelena Hitt and her husband, Paul Sr.; three brothers, James I. Chapman, III and his wife, Carolyn, Joseph O. Chapman and his wife, Lucy, and Larry J. Chapman; one sister, Dorothy Poland; and two aunts, Ann Hearns and Elsie Hearns.
Additional survivors include eight grandchildren, Alysha Chapman, Drew Chapman, Jazmine Settle, D’Aaron Chapman, Sr., Jada Hitt, Lauryn Hitt, Dreylin Clark, and Paul Hitt, Jr.; three great grandchildren, Nylah Chapman, D’Aaron Chapman, Jr., and Davion Chapman; a sister-in-law, Mary Chapman; a special nephew, Joseph I. Chapman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Lewis Chapman, Sr.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 12 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Mack officiating and Rev. Eugene Tripplett, eulogist. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
