William “Bill” Patrick Burgess of Fredericksburg, VA went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday September 5, 2020. He was born on October 3, 1934 to the late Clifton Patrick Burgess and Bernice Dunning Burgess i Read Obituary
I had the pleasure of working with Bill for many years at NSWC Dahlgren. Bill was a dedicated individual when it came to being a good friend and co-worker. When Bill completed his evaluation of a test item and generated his final report, you knew the report was concise, complete, and that every “i” was dotted and every “t” was crossed.
Along with a number of other retired personnel, often referred to as the “Over the Hill Gang”, we enjoyed many meals, great conversations, and shared memorable life long events of our work at Dahlgren.
Bill did his best to serve those who needed his help. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Bill and I worked together for years. He was my Boss, my Mentor, and a co-worker, I really enjoyed my 40 years at NSWC because of the many fine individuals that work there. Bill was always one of those fine men, ... and a Friend.

Sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I worked for and with Bill for 15 years at Pumpkin Neck. He was an excellent test engineer and a stickler for detail which occasionally drove me crazy. Unfortunately for me, he was usually right.
I saw him after retirement at "Old Guys" luncheons at Golden Corral & we talked about how much better we did things when we were running Dahlgren.
