Virginia Elizabeth Jessup's Obituary
Virginia Elizabeth Jessup, 75, of Culpeper formerly of Virginia Beach went to be with the Lord peacefully September 28, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
Virginia was born on September 26, 1939 in Virginia Beach, to the late Vernon E. Simmons and Gladys Mae Simmons.
Virginia was a long-time Director of the Culpeper Baptist Church Child Development Center and an active member of the Red Hat Society, being Past Queen of the Red Hens of Sycamore Park and Assistant Queen of the C. Red Hot Divas and was a founder of the Red Hat Bloomers in Virginia Beach. Virginia had an infectious laugh and was truly one that would do anything to help another while filling the room with laughter upon walking in to it. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and Virginia Beach United Methodist Church Jackson Fellowship Class. Virginia also was a Golden Apple Award Recipient in recognition of her contribution to the children and public schools of Culpeper County.
Virginia is survived by her husband James Henry Jessup, Sr. and their children; LeiLani Stanley and her partner Kenny Mills of Culpeper, James H. “Jimmy” Jessup, Jr. of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Cindy Campbell and her husband David Campbell also of Culpeper. Also surviving are her two Grandchildren; Jeremy Stanley and his wife Tarah Stanley of Culpeper and Jessica Summer and her husband Andrew Summer of Virginia Beach, two great grandchildren Kai Stanley and Emersyn Stanley also of Culpeper.
Virginia is also survived by her brother, William V. “Billy” Simmons and his wife Patricia Simmons of Virginia Beach.
In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by one brother Tommy Simmons.
A funeral service will be held at 6pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Va with the Pastor Dallas Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30pm until service time.
Interment will follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park, Northeast Virginia Beach, 1110 N. Great Neck Rd, Virginia Beach, Va 23454 at 3pm on Friday, October 3, 2014.
In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 2654 Valley Ave. Suite B. Winchester, Va 22601.
