Vicente Pernisco's Obituary
Vicente Leland Pernisco, 42, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at his home in Culpeper. He was born on April 25, 1972 in Redondo Beach, California to the late Vicente and Carol Anderson Pernisco.
Vicente was a member of Church on the Rise and Paralyzed Veterans of America. He served in the United States Marine Corps and participated in Operation Desert Stay while in Southwest Asia, Operation Eager Mace during the liberation of Kuwait, Operation Nautical Mantis in Saudi Arabia, and with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of the United Nations efforts to transport Pakistani peace forces to Somalia. As a civilian, he worked at Gold’s Gym in Culpeper, VA and at Sears as a Facilities Manager.
He is survived by three sisters: Karen Speicher and her husband Aaron of Culpeper; Savina Pernisco of Kissimmee, FL; and Amanda Pernisco of Nipomo, CA; nine nieces and nephews: Ashleigh and Zachary Speicher, Sabrina, Mikel, Hanna, and Olivia Pernisco, Lily Gibbons, and James III and Emily Reid as well as a great niece Molly Pernisco. He is also survived by his big brother and mentor with the Big Brother Association of America, R. Scott Reid.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 14, 2014 at 11 AM at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701, with Rev. Baker Rigg officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. His ashes will be spread July 5, 2014 in Point Magu, CA.
The family would like to express appreciation to Hospice of the Rapidan, The ALS clinic at UVA , and the ALS association serving DC , Maryland and Virginia.
