Vernon R. Jenkins' Obituary
Vernon R. Jenkins, 75 of Rixeyville, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Fauquier Hospital.
Vernon was born October 2, 1936 in Rappahannock County to the late Lillian and Hugh Jenkins.
Vernon had a great love for his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his crops of vegetables with his neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed attending musical events, raising livestock and going to the Madison Livestock Market weekly. He was a member of the Amissville Baptist Church. He retired from the Arlington County Schools after 35 years of service and he had five years with the Fauquier public school systems.
Vernon is survived by his wife of the last 44 years Doris Cooke Jenkins and their two daughters; Sandra Davidson and her husband Gary of Culpeper and Kathy Smith and her husband Jeff also of Culpeper, his four grandchildren, Matthew and Brandon Davidson and Abigail and Sydney Smith all of Culpeper.
In addition to his parents, Vernon is preceded in death by his two sisters, Mabel Martin and Mamie Jenkins.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, October 10, 2011 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A Funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Amissville Baptist Church, 776 Viewtown Rd, Amissville, VA 20106 with the Pastor Ed Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
