Pastor Thomas (Tim) William Langlois' Obituary
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.”
On an undisclosed date in late 2025 (because even in eternity he refused to be predictable), Pastor Tim Langlois finally won the ultimate argument with death and went home to collect his long-promised reward, leaving the rest of us holding hymnals and wondering who’s going to explain the Book of Revelation now.
For 23 years Tim pastored Calvary Chapel of Spotsylvania with the stubborn conviction that Jesus loves sinners, the Bible is true, and potluck dinners are a spiritual gift.
He preached grace like a man who had needed a lot of it himself, which, if you ever heard him tell stories about his pre-Jesus days, made perfect sense.
Tim is survived by his far-more-patient-than-he-deserved wife, Penelope, who somehow managed to stay married to a man whose idea of date night often involved a whiteboard and Greek verbs; his daughter Jacy, who inherited his wit and (thankfully) her mother’s common sense; his brothers Joseph and David Langlois (along with David’s far-better-half Jeanette); his stepson Randy Barnaby and Randy’s wife Melissa; and three grandchildren—Joshua, Ryah, and Abigail—who were convinced, when they were yet babies, that Papa Tim’s lap was the safest place on earth and his stories about Jonah and the whale were 100% documentary.
In lieu of flowers, Tim has requested that you forgive somebody who doesn’t deserve it, read a chapter of Scripture out loud, and maybe skip the decaf.
He’s already up there arguing with Paul about whether the Thessalonians passages are clearer in the Greek, and losing graciously.
A celebration of life will be held at Calvary Chapel of Fredericksburg, on January 3, 2026, followed by a reception featuring slightly burnt coffee and casseroles that could raise the dead. Which, come to think of it, was always his specialty anyway.
See you soon, Pastor Tim. Save us a seat near the front; we still have questions.
