Theodore "Ted" Kearns' Obituary
Theodore Wilmer Kearns (Ted) aka “Big Daddy” of Rixeyville passed away at Fairfax INOVA Hospital on Monday, May 20, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. Ted was born to the late Robert M. Kearns, Sr. and Sarah Susan Kearns.
Ted loved the Lord and was a member of Jeffersonton Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in Germany and later retired as a Gourmet Meat Specialist from Giant food store. Ted loved to sing karaoke, bowling, gardening, watching all sports as well as going to the NASCAR races.
He is survived by his wife, June Kearns; three daughters, Beverly Kearns of Mesa, AZ, Kimberly Marshall (Cameron) of Moosomin, Canada and Stefanie Groot (Dave) of Louisa; one grandson, Justin Theodore Groot, currently attending Virginia Tech; two sisters, Agnes Bedell and Lois Mazzello, both of St. Petersburg, FL; and two brothers, Wayne Kearns (Amy) of Gainesville and Louis Kearns (Helen) of Clinton, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Robert M. Kearns, Jr., Richard M. Kearns, Sr., James B. Kearns and Paul V. Kearns; and one sister, Doris Rankin.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 5 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 2 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his grandson, Justin Groot, 7044 Rixeyville Rd., Rixeyville, VA 22737 &/or Jeffersonton Baptist Church, 18498 Springs Rd., Jeffersonton, VA 22724.
