Strother Travis Brown Jr.'s Obituary
Strother Travis Brown, Jr. 79 of Sperryville died September 24, 2013 at Winchester Medical Center. He was born September 11, 1934 in Sperryville to the late Strother T. Brown and Catherine Atkins Brown.
Mr. Brown was a veteran of the US Army. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and baseball fan and often enjoyed reminiscing about his days of playing ball. He loved fishing, reading country western novels and working outside in his garden. Mr. Brown took great pleasure and pride in driving his fellow seniors around our local community for the past several years and was an active member of The Sperryville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karin Brown, two daughters, Isabell Warrington and her husband, Steve of Winchester and Susan Fumai and her husband, Chris of Connecticut and three sons, John Travis Brown and his wife, Tami of Aldie, VA, Strother Thomas Brown and his wife, Christina of Goldsboro, NC and Jay Travis Brown and his wife, Whittney of Culpeper. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Sarah, Jesse, Ashley, Alexandra, Sean, Hannah, Joshua, Strother and Carter.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Betty Overhulser and Shirley Kushner, one brother, Julian Brown and brothers-in-law, Larry Kushner, Alan Poe and two sisters-in-law, Rita Brown and Irma Atkins.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin and Charles and one sister, Barbara Poe.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 27, 2013 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11 am at Sperryville United Methodist Church with Rev. Sara Keeling officiating.
A graveside committal service will follow in Sperryville Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be his family members.
