My Uncle Stanley was a wonderful and compassionate individual. He always showed a tremendous interest in helping me with my math work. I have fond childhood memories of playing baseball with him and his company team, going to the beach with him and Miriam, visiting them at their residence on Santa Maria in Detroit and shooting baskets with him at my home in Livonia. He and I used to take long walks back in the Detroit days. He would listen to my teenager concerns and advise me on what to do. I loved discussing baseball and football with him. He was so knowledgeable. Stan was like the ultimate gardener. When Darlene and I first saw his vegetable garden in Annandale, we were most impressed. It was like a work of art.

We met Stan and Miriam when we moved into The Willows in 2001. Stan and I both really enjoyed tending our yards and had some nice neighborly chats when we ran into each while working outside. Whenever I plowed snow from his driveway or stopped by to lend an extra hand, he always offered me a cold beer, a handshake and a smile. Stan made several music CDs for me that include tracks from Ralph Mooney and others. I enjoy listening to the CDs and will think of Stan whenever I play them in my garage. Stan was a great neighbor and we will miss him.

Stan was a great neighbor! I loved getting gardening advice from him. One year we joined him at Wolf Trap to see Marty Stewart. It was a great evening, one we will never forget. Stan introduced us to Marty. One thing we will always remember is Stan's great smile and laugh. He will be missed.
