Sandra Lee Royston's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sandra Lee Royston (Sandy). After a short, difficult fight, she died comfortably on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 6:10 PM with her family by her side.
Sandy was born and raised in Falls Church, VA. She attended George Mason High School where she was the Homecoming Queen.
Sandy began her career as a secretary and rose through the ranks to become a Special Investigator for the Department of Defense. She did this while being a dedicated single mother.
After retirement, Sandy enjoyed quilting and weekly lunches with her friends. She would meet weekly with her quilting group, The Wannabees, and she would go on quilting retreats with her friends.
She was a giving person and would often be seen driving friends and neighbors to appointments. Sandy would also give her time to cook dinners for gatherings at the community club house. She could be seen at almost every sporting event in which her son and later her grandsons were participating.
Sandy has a beautiful soul that will continue to touch everyone that knew her. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her father, Doug and mother, Pearl.
She is survived by her only son, Stephen Royston, his wife, Tonya; her four grandsons, Brandon, Zander, Trey, and Joey; and her sister, Judith Beach.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, Virginia. A repast will be held immediately following the service at the Villa Meeting House.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Salem Fields Community Church in the name of Sandra L Royston.
