Sandy was a very special person and was a very good cook. She also made some very beautiful quilts. She was quite the character, joking and caring on. Great lady she will be dearly missed. We love you Sandy! Peace be with you and your family.

Sandy was a wonderful person. She was kind, understanding, thoughtful and---lots of fun! I have many great memories of us cheering for George Mason teams. And remember having as much fun riding to and from the games--we would share stories of our day, our hopes and dreams---and just plain girl talk. Sandy's family was wonderful too--not surprising. When you went to their home they made you feel like family. In the late 1980''s I had many Sunday morning conversations with Mr Royaton at the drug store on Broad Street across from the post office.i would stop there after church.He would be sitting at the counter with a cup of coffee and welcoming smile We would catch up on news about our families. My deepest condolences to Steve and Sandy’s grandsons. She loved you all so much. I was in her Wannabees group, Appliqué Group, and went on quilt retreats with her. Sandy was a lovely person in so many ways. She was a very talented quilter. It’s hard to believe she is gone. I will miss her a lot.

Sandy was my best friend in High School and you could not have a better best friend! She was loyal, funny, generous, friendly, smart and beautiful!! So sorry to hear of her passing. My best to Stephen, Judy and her beloved grandchildren in her absence!

When I first knew Sandy, my name was Patsy Lay. We met in elementary school and then got to know one another better in high school. I think my favorite memories of Sandy are sitting out on the porch of her family home on Cherry Street, sipping the lemonade that her mother - or was it her grandmother or aunt - had made for us. It was like living in an earlier era when everything was simple and we all felt loved. It was always a treat to see Sandy at George Mason reunions. She will be remembered with love and gratitude by all of us who knew her.
Sandy was a dear friend all through high school and her family was always so welcoming to me. We were cheerleaders together and her sunny personality was a real gift. We often double-dated and she was just fun - those were good times.
And her Mom made the best tuna sandwiches - I have never been able to equal them!
I left Falls Church after high school and didn't see her often, but it was always fun to catch up when I did.
