Harriett Sulkosky lit a candle in memory of Samuel Slater

My favorite memory was when we were going 4 wheeling and Sam forgot to bolt the passenger seat down in his jeep and me and the seat went air born Thank God he caught us before we hit the ground. He looked at me and said oops! You will be missed my friend.
Sam was such a kind spirit.
He was a true Christian; he lived in service to others and was very humble. One time I had a water heater burst in the outbuilding and it started to flood the building and Sam rushed over to keep it from completely destroying everything. He will be missed.
I'm at Sam a couple of years ago after moving out to Sperryville from Arlington. Sam came over to help me straighten out some awful plumbing work on the cabin I had just purchased. We instantly hit it off and I enjoyed his personality. Sometimes when Sam was working close by he would just drop over. Often I would see his card stuffed in my door. I loved that about him.
He had a deep love for his faith. The last time I spoke with him we were on the phone for about 40 minutes just talking about everything and nothing. That's rare for me to do. I'm not much for chatting on the phone with men. I will really miss Sam.
