Samuel Richard Found's Obituary
Samuel Richard Found, 46 of Thornburg, VA passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 at his parents’ home in Lake Anna surrounded by family. Sam was born April 23, 1965 in Bilborough, England and raised in Nokesville, VA by Douglas Gerald Found and Carolyn Anne Owen Found.
Sam graduated from Brentsville District High School and furthered his education at Elon College, graduating from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1987. He was the co-founder of Found and Sons Funeral Chapels of Culpeper, Fredericksburg and Manassas and Affordable Funeral Service in Northern Va.
Sam was a past president and board member of the Northern Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Past President and Board Member of the American Heart Association. He served the community in many ways on boards of the Piedmont United Way, Lions Club, Culpeper Hospital Foundation and many others. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Fairfax Masonic Lodge #43 A.F. & A.M. and the Alexandria Scottish Rite. Sam also served on the Culpeper Town Council for 5 years and received the Culpeper Colonel’s Award in 2001, Culpeper County’s highest citizen service award.
Sam was most proud of his daughters, Julie, who will be graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University this December and Jill, who is a junior at The College of William and Mary University.
He is survived by his parents of Lake Anna, and two brothers, Stephen Douglas Found and Scott Owen Found and his wife, Jennifer, all of Culpeper.
Sam’s family will receive friends Monday, October 31, 2011 from 6-8 pm at the Found and Sons Fredericksburg Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407
There will be a second visitation Tuesday, November 1, 2011 from 6-8 pm at the Found and Sons Culpeper , 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701
A celebration of Sam’s life will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Culpeper Baptist Church at 2 pm with the Rev. R. Wayne Bernardo officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in the family’s plot.
Pallbearers named are Sean Jackson, Ronnie Dye, Jr., Chip Coleman, Bedford Benton Beadle, III, Rupert Atkinson, Jr. and Todd Kinsey.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Sam’s name to the charity of your choice.
