May you cherish the memories you have and know that you and your family are in our prayers

Dearest Ruth, my dear cousin, my playmate. We joined Shiloh together and were baptized together in the Hazel River (along with Vernon and John). I was so scared my legs were shaking and I could barely walk. Even though I was the older one you squeezed my hand and said "it's not gonna hurt". When I stayed at Granny's house (in the hollow) I looked toward your house until I could see you and Aunt Roberta walking across the field and I would run down off that porch to hug you because I was so happy to see you and knew we would have a fun day. We picked berries, worked in the garden, gathered the eggs, jumped rope, and sung songs together. I had such a good time when I could spend the night with you at your house. We sang in the choir together and one of your favorite songs was the hymn, "Never Alone". You had such a beautiful voice but never wanted to draw any attention to yourself. You waited up for me to come in on Saturday nights when I was dating Jim (11:30 pm curfew). You caught the bus from Culpeper and came to Falls Church to visit on some weekends and helped me with Robbie and Michelle. We just enjoyed eating cashews and talking about our hopes and dreams. Such a ready smile and gentle spirit. Never wanted to hurt anyone. I loved you so much and enjoyed all our times together. My heart was so sad to hear you had flown away and I just can't stop thinking about you. But, I know you are free and at peace from the cares of this world. I hope, like you use to, you will wait up for me in Heaven. Just a few more tears to share and I will see you in God's beautiful Heaven. We shall rejoice with Jesus and all of our loved ones reunited. Love you Sis....Carolyn
