Ruth H. Baucom's Obituary
Ruth H. Baucom, 95, of Culpeper went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community. She was born October 12, 1914 in Wake Forest, NC to the late J. Spurgeon Harrison and Effie Conyers Harrison.
Mrs. Baucom was a member of Culpeper Baptist Church. For 22 years previous to this she was a member of First Baptist Church in Lumberton, NC where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was the first woman deacon. She was also a member of garden clubs, book clubs, and many other church and community organizations everywhere she lived. She served alongside of her husband as pastor's wife at First Baptist Church in Murphy, NC, Rich Square/Woodland Baptist churches in NC, Tacoma Park Baptist Church in Washington, DC, Oxford Baptist Church in Oxford, NC, First Baptist Church in Gaithersburg, MD and Littleton Baptist Church in Littleton, NC.
She is survived by her children, Herbert Wayland Baucom, III and his wife, Shirley of Silver Spring, MD., James Edward Baucom and his wife, Mary Lee of Radford, VA and Margaret Baucom Fuson and her husband, Ted Fuson of Culpeper, VA.
Additional survivors include her grandchildren, Tim L. Baucom and his wife, Cheryl of Dalton, GA, David Baucom and his wife, Patricia, SC, James Edward Baucom, Jr. and his wife, Debbie of Mclean, VA, Melinda Baucom Benson and her husband, Eric of CT, Lee Baucom and his wife, Kathy of Louisville, KY, Tim W. Baucom and his wife, Mandy of Raleigh, NC, Margy Fuson of Bath, NC and Amy Ruth Fuson Lohr and her husband, Andrew of Midlothian, VA, and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Wayland Baucom, Jr., two sisters, Lillian Harrison and Margie Berry, and her brother in law, Erwin Berry, Sr.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 2:00pm at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC with Dr. Ted Fuson officiating.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701 with Dr. Ted Fuson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community, Benevolent Fund, 12425 Village Loop, Culpeper, VA 22701.
