I am an old Pittsburgh friend of Meyers, (we called every one by their last names) We worked construction, lived in the same neighborhood , caved and climbed together and loved the Steelers!
One of many stories: In our very early 20’s none of us had much money, so we pooled enough money to buy one Steeler ticket from a scalper. Having climbing rope and the skills and the strength associated, Meyers volunteered to wrap the rope around his body under his winter coat, and use our one ticket to get into the game. We waited at the agreed upon spot, and after a short time Meyers head popped up looking over the wall of the ramp. He lowered the rope, one end tied around him as the anchor, and we scurried up the 15’ encouraged by the cheers of fans watching this unfold. All 3 of us made it up the rope. It’s great when a plan comes together! What a memorable day that was. He was a good man and friend, I was very sorry to hear of his passing…
