Richard Henry Chandler's Obituary
Richard Henry Chandler, 64, passed away suddenly on Sunday November 26, 2023, in Spotsylvania County.
He was born on December 7, 1959, in Arlington, Virginia to Inga Chandler and the late Homer Vincent Chandler. He spent most of his youth in Vienna, Virginia and graduated from James Madison High School in Vienna. He lived for a time in Fauquier County before he and his family settled in Spotsylvania County.
After high school, Richard apprenticed as an electrician with M.C. Dean Inc. where he later became a master electrician. He was still employed with M.C. Dean at the time of his death. During his time with M.C. Dean, Richard built and maintained global infrastructure systems. His work took him around the country and abroad. He worked at such diverse locations as Camp David, the White House, the US Embassies in Haiti and Jamaica and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. During his time in Jamaica, he met his loving wife, Tanya.
Richard was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife, Tanya Bruno Chandler; a daughter, Emily “Mia” Chandler; and sons, Richard Wyatt Chandler, Javaney Joel Bruno, and Mateo Van Bekkum, of the home. In addition, he is survived by his mother and stepfather, Inga Chandler Creasy and Ken Creasy; and two sisters, Agnes Chandler Dunn [Alan] and Dianne Chandler [David Montgomery]. Richard had five nieces and nephews, Heather Dunn, Jason Dunn, Terrence “Paul” Dunn, Bailey Bell and Brittany Montgomery; an aunt, Nancy Chandler Roberts [Jerry]; an uncle, Richard Chandler [Hazel]; and mother-in-law, Doreen Bowes.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Homer Vincent Chandler; his sister-in-law, Tamoi Bruno; an aunt, Virginia Chandler Morgan; and an uncle, John Henry Chandler.
The family will celebrate Richard’s life by receiving family and friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road Fredericksburg, VA 22407. A service with an opportunity to share memories will take place at 3:00 p.m.
