Richard W. Burke
Richard W. Burke, 74, of Woodville died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at his son’s residence. He was born April 22, 1936 in Rappahannock to the late Walter Marshall and Bertha Nethers Burke.
Mr. Burke loved farming and was an avid fox hunter. He retired from VDOT after 30 years and was an exceptional heavy equipment operator.
Mr. Burke is survived by his son, Richard Wallace Burke, II and his wife, Michele of Woodville, and one grandson, Walter Milton Burke.
Additional survivors include three brothers-in-law, John Norman and his wife, Nina, Daniel Norman and his wife, Bessie and Nick Norman and his wife, Lillian, three sisters-in-law, Mary Wiley and her husband, Paul, Flossie Wharton, and Sadie Norman and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rena Mae Burke and one brother, Robert Marshall Burke.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 14, 2011 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Roger Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Washington Masonic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tim Norman, Jim Norman, Jerry Burke, Ken Thompson, John Norman and Tim Falls. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Norman and Roy Pullen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 1715, Culpeper, VA 22701.
