Dic, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dickie & Michele, We are deeply sadden to hear of your loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers. May God give you the strength you need. Take comfort knowing that he suffers no more, and one day there will be a Great reunion! Love the Fraziers & Williams.

Richard was a longtime friend of mine. My earliest recollection of Richard and me was when we were about 7. We had on bib overalls, no shoes and we were playing in Wharton hollar when Joe Shaffer saw us and gave us a set of horseshoes. Richard took 2 shoes and a stake and I took 2 shoes and a stake. We walked into the woods, found a level spot, droved the 2 stakes in the ground about 20 ft. apart. We pitched horseshoes until we got tired and then we pulled the stakes up and went on walking. We would take the horseshoes with us whenever we were together. I had my dog Shep and he had his dog, can't remember it's name. We would often go swimming in the Thornton river between his home and my homeplace and would sit on the big rock there.
It really made me happy when my Dad left me the piece of land along the river. When down there I would often stand on the rock and look up to where Richard's house was. I sometimes would call out to him hoping to hear back from him. I thought of all the good times we had together. I will continue to think of him and will sure miss him.
I am real sorry I couldn't get down there to say goodby to Richard. Iva and I want all his family and friends to know we are sending our thoughts and prayers down to them.
