Alex and I lived next door to Phil for the last 14 years. We could not have asked for a better neighbor. We were always willing to help each when the need arose. He enjoyed showing me his trophies and I especially enjoyed listening to him while he told me some of his life’s experiences. As a retired Air Force officer we always made it a point to salute each other across the yard on Memorial Day and especially Veteran’s Day. We didn’t need to say anything, we just knew. I will miss you, my friend.

I was fortunate to have Phil as a great brother-in-law and a dear friend. I admired his generosity and devotion to friends and family, particularly the love and care he showered on Janet throughout their marriage, and most especially in her illness. I enjoyed, vicariously, the adventure he brought into my sister’s life: Hiking down the Grand Canyon, going on Safari to Africa, traveling to Sweden to adopt 2 special dogs! According to Phil, he was a difficult kid with no love for school, but he became a decorated Army Officer, an FBI agent and trainer, a business owner and an Expert Witness, even earning a PHD. He never bragged about these accomplishments, but could always produce entertaining stories based on his many and varied experiences. In sum, Phil was a warm, jovial, kind relative and friend. I trust that he is happily reunited with his beloved wife, my sister, Janet, but I will miss him as I have missed her.

I remember when I did a roadtrip with my dad Peter Jonsson. We drove from Miami to New York and picked up Phil on the way. It was so fun to be with the both of them together because they acted like brothers. We had a few amazing days the three of us in New York. They took me shopping and we went horse riding in Central Park. Phil and Janet also always invited me to thanks giving when I went to uni in the US. I went my freshman year and my dad and mom was there too. Phil and Janet welcomed us like family. Always happy too be togheter. And other great memory I have is when I was visiting Phil with my mom Helene a few years after my dad Peter passed away. Phil told me so many good stories about my dad, they really were best friends. And it always felt like Phil was a part of my dad which was very comforting. On that trip Phil also took us to a shooting range. He will be greatly missed, he was like an uncle to me and will always be loved.

I would like to share a memory when I did a road trip with my dad Peter Jonsson. We drove from Miami to New York, and we picked up Phil on the way. I spent a few days with just the two of them. They behaved like brothers which was so fun to see. We spent a few amazing days in New York togheter. I’ve also been invited to spend thanks giving with Phil and Janet when I went to uni in the USA, they were so warm and welcoming. At first you became my late husband’s best friend, then you also became my, and all four children’s best frien, and an extra dad.
You have always been there for me, and my family. You also got involved when I met my new future husband in recent years, it’s so valuable for me.
