Michael Terrance Turner's Obituary
Michael Terrance Turner, “Terry,” 66, of Culpeper, Virginia, formerly Leesburg, Virginia, left this earthly life on March 14, 2024 at Poet’s Walk, Warrenton, Virginia, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born on March 28, 1957 in Suffolk, Virginia to Lloyd Frank Turner and Pearl Elizabeth Johnson. He was the oldest of three children.
On September 27, 1980, Terry married the love of his life, Deborah Ann Rollings of Paris, Illinois. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years; his son, Ryan (Megan) of Culpeper, Virginia; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Hannah Turner; his sister, Betty Wolfe (Matthew) of Casstown, Ohio; and numerous extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Kenny.
After graduating from Indiana State University in 1980, Terry began what would become a life-long career in law enforcement, eventually retiring as a detective in the Fairfax County, Virginia, Police Department in 2013. Afterward, he worked for Fairfax County Public Schools as a member of their safety and security team at Lee High School from 2015 until the time of his retirement in 2020.
Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, and playing and watching a variety of sports in his free time. He was an avid Michigan Wolverines football fan, who truly bled Maize and Blue. Although many things brought him joy, and few will forget the fun, loving, and thoughtful man he was, nothing brought him greater happiness than becoming a grandfather. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He could always be counted on for a good horseback ride, a snuggle with a storybook in a chair, or a game of chase around the yard.
A viewing and celebration of Terry’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Found and Sons Funeral Home, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia.
Donations in Terry’s memory may be made to Culpeper Adult Day Care Center, c/o Sara Amos, 318 S. West Street, Culpeper, VA 22701.
