Michael Wayne Greene's Obituary
Michael Wayne Greene, age 70, of Fredericksburg, went to be with his Lord on Monday evening February 20, 2023.
He was born on February 29,1952 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was predeceased by his father Paul L. Greene, Jr and his mother Glenna E. Hersman. Michael started working while he was in high school in construction. After graduating from James Monroe High School in 1974, he held several jobs. Some of the places that he really enjoyed working was the Virginia Central Railroad, Alum Spring Park, and The Free Lance-Star to name a few. Michael enjoyed singing with the Maranatha Choir and the barber shop quartet. He also enjoyed reading the Bible and joining others in bible studies.
He is survived by his sisters, Linda (John) Hitchcock of Glasgow, Kentucky; Glenda L. (Stacy) Payne of Spotsylvania, and Lynn (James) Bentz of Lexington Park, Maryland.
Nieces, Haley (Joshua) Harris of Wilson, North Carolina; Emily Payne of Fredericksburg, and nephews, Jeremy Payne of Spotsylvania, David Swindell of Fredericksburg, Matthew Bentz of Lexington Park, Maryland, and Corey Payne of Fredericksburg. He is also survived by great nieces and nephew, many cousins, aunts and uncle.
The family wishes to thank the Mary Washington Hospital 4 South staff and Carriage Hill who cared for him. A special thank you to his friend Prentiss Smithers.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg, VA.
