Michael will always be remembered for his big welcoming smile. He was such a considerate person and loved family gatherings. He wrote poetry, loved to sing and enjoyed going on excursions. One summer day his sisters Gee and Lynn, Mike and I drove to Richmond and spent the day looking at the monuments, visiting the White House of the Confederacy and the Museum of the Confederacy. When a good friend of mine from San Francisco, Jana, joined me in visiting Daddy and Glenna, we took Mike with us for the day to Washington, DC. We took the early morning commuter train and toured the FBI Building, several Smithsonian Museums and had a great lunch after touring the historic Post Office Building before returning with the commuters in time for dinner. Whether we were all seated around the table sharing a meal or putting jigsaw puzzles together, we had good times and fond memories. Michael was willing to lend a helping hand and had a truly generous heart. As a Leap Year baby, he really looked forward to celebrating his birthday the most every four years. He will be missed but is certain to be in the arms of the Lord surrounded by family and friends who have already passed away. Michael had many health challenges in his life but overcame them with grit, determination and a smile.
