I have many memories of my cousin Marty. From time to time The Egan Clan of New York would pack into the car -- Mom , Dad, our brother John the oldest and the baby would all be in the front... of course with no seat belts or restraints--- and the rest of us ( 5) were in the back with Bonnie and Angus our wire hair fox terriers ) Away we went on our " great adventure" to see our 10 cousins in Virginia. Always a lot of fun and always full of a lot of laughs and of course- usually ALOT of fire works..
Uncle Bill and my Dad would always do the cooking... God Bless them... 17 kids .... four adults and of course Grandma Mills.. who could ever forget Grandma Mills.... one time we even had a really big reunion with the other Egan Clan from Queens NY ..Uncle Bob, Aunt Nina and our other 5 cousins... came down for an epic visit on their way to relocate in Dallas TX.... 22 first cousins....lots of fireworks ( in more ways then one) motorcycle rides... of course with no helmets... I had the privilege on many occasions to go down on the bus. I can remember sneaking into Marty, Jimmy, Ricky room aka " the boys room" with my cousin Jeanette to look at the Playboy book hidden (obviously not very well)
under the mattress... Marty would always yell for us to " get out" Used to play lights out in the rec room which was always a lot of fun. I remember the day Marty and Vicki got married. Glad I could be their... So many years have passed since those days but I cherish the memories and always feel grateful to have had those opportunity's... Our last get together in the Outer Banks took place in June 2011.... almost 15 years ago. It was a wonderful event with every cousin, from Virginia, NY, Dallas in attendance ... add spouse's, children , grandchildren and you can imagine the crowd. So wonderful to have those memories. Big family's are a blessing...most of the time...LOL...
but as we get older having to start to say good bye is hard... So to my cousin Marty.... good bye..... save us all a spot...
Our love and heartfelt condolences go out to Vicki and the entire family. " Thanks for the Memories Marty"
