Marianne Catherine Harmon's Obituary
Marianne Catherine Harmon, 61, of Fredericksburg Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025.
Born in Alexandria, Virginia, Marianne grew up in Northern Virginia and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education. She dedicated over 20 years of her life to teaching in the Fredericksburg area, where she became a beloved and influential figure in the lives of countless students. Her passion was helping adolescents-especially those in challenging pre-teen and early teen years-discover the wonders of science and mathematics.
Marianne was a voracious reader with a deep love for science fiction and fantasy. Her curiosity and imagination were matched only by her humility and warmth. To speak with Marianne was to feel truly seen and heard-she had a rare gift for making others feel like the most important person in the world.
She is survived by her loving husband, Greg; her step-son Grant, her cherished furbabies; her father, David Zeigler, her sister, Maria Brown, and brother-in-law, Daniel: as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marian “Katie” Zeigler.
Marianne’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, students and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 9149 Eleys Ford Rd., Fredericksburg.
