When I was a little boy, Auntie had a car without air conditioning and during a North Carolina summer day that was something worth considering, however, given the opportunity to ride anywhere with Auntie I never thought twice about jumping in that car with her. That was the kind of person she was: someone you wanted to be with. She always had a story (or three) in the chamber but she was also a great audience, listening thoughtfully and freely sharing her joyful laughter. She was a natural teacher and fiercely loyal to her loved ones. Later in life she suffered greatly and though she never said so, I believe she carried on through the pain to be with us just as long as she could stand it. Thank you for that Auntie. We are thankful for the years we had with you and although we are happy you are at peace, we will miss you.
