Margaret Ann Herndon's Obituary
Margaret Ann Herndon, age 91, passed away on September 5, 2024, in Culpeper, Virginia. Born on May 6, 1933, Ann led a life marked by her athletic prowess and a fun-loving spirit. Ann was a cartographer for the United States Geologic Survey and later transitioned to being a Realtor. Athletics played a central role in Ann’s life. She was an all-around softball player and coach honored by her induction into the Washington D.C. Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. Her passion for sports transitioned to bowling after softball. Ann was involved in the local theatre scene both as a player and a director entertaining her extended Lake of the Woods family.
Ann is survived by her beloved friend and confidant, Jan Tishok, a major support in Ann’s life; her brother, James Herndon and his wife, Linda; cousins, Judy and her husband, Norman Collier and family, Camilla and her husband, Wendell Latham and family; nephews, Robert and wife, Pam Cole and family, Allen Cole, and family; and niece, Lori Walker and family.
Ann appreciated the excellent, caring staff at The Culpeper. She leaves behind a legacy of joy and love to all who knew her.
