Louise Woodard's Obituary
Louise Compton Woodard, 92, of Boston died Friday, February 11, 2011 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 18, 1918 in Culpeper to the late Albert and Della Cliser Compton.
Mrs. Woodard was a loving mother, grandmother, friend and a faithful, lifetime member of Alum Spring Baptist Church. She was a dedicated Sunday School teacher and she served as clerk of the church for over 40 years. She enjoyed cooking for her church family whom she loved and growing her flowers at her home. She worked for Lewis Pharmacy and the original Culpeper Pharmacy until they both closed their doors.
She is survived by her two sons, John Paul Woodard, Jr. of Reva and Bob Woodard and his wife, Nancy of Boston, three grandchildren, Mike Woodard and his wife, Robin of Culpeper, Marty Woodard Ward and her husband, Michael of Madison and Travis Paul Woodard of Boston, six great grandchildren, Jeremy Kincheloe, Joshua, Jameson and Julia Woodard, Meghan and Mason Ward, one sister-in-law, Bessie Aylor of Boston and two nephews, Sammy Compton and Billy Bryant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Woodard, Sr., one sister, Mattyee Compton and one brother, Albert Lee Compton.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Ron Young and Rev. John Miller officiating. A one hour visitation will be held prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alum Spring Baptist Church Building Fund, 11058 Dutch Hollow Rd, Culpeper, Virginia 22701.
