Linda Johns (Tirak), 64, of Fredericksburg, passed away in the early morning of Thursday, June 30, 2016 to be with the Lord, after an extended illness. She was born in Erie, PA on June 8, 1952 and graduated from East High School Read Obituary
Linda and her family were the best friends I had while in the Burg. We spent many hours talking while traveling together up and down 95. I was shocked to read this sad news and wish to send my regrets and prayers of peace to the family who were so kind to me. I am sad knowing such a sweet person as Linda has passed on but know she believed in God and is in a much better place that allows her to be free from all her pain and suffering.

Coming onboard DOE in 2014, I never had an opportunity to meet Linda in person, but nonetheless, I feel deeply saddened by her loss. I always hoped I had the opportunity to meet her in person to thank her and hug her for all the assistance she provided me from my first day onboard right up until she couldn't work anymore. Despite her own health challenges, and no doubt pain, she was ALWAYS there for us. She had the patience of a Saint, and I know without hesitation she is now among the angels. Linda was a unique, joyful friend who always asked how she could help before you decided to ask the question or for assistance. In spite of her illness, she never complained or let it get in the way of being a good friend with a wonderful sense of humor. Linda's presence in our lives is missed and will be fondly remembered.

My heart is truly saddened by the loss of Linda, but am also grateful to know she is no longer in pain as she made her transition to be with the LORD. Linda and I developed what I refer to as a very unexpected relationship of mutual respect, kindness and caring in a somewhat "unfavorable working environment at times." Late in the day when the phone range, I knew it was her to tell me to go home for the day!
No matter the weather or her issues with her health, she would always take the time to scold me about not being attentive to my own health issues by encouraging me to "go easy." I can actually still hear her say "GO EASY, slow down and take care of you!" Many times, she would pick up the phone to ask me about my mother or my father and say "don't forget about you." What a wonderful SPIRIT AND LOVING PERSONALITY. Approximately three (3) to four (4) prior to me receiving the news that she had gone on to glory, I talked to her while she in the hospital. We laughed and again she reminded me to take care of me in addition to me not forgetting her. No chance of that, I CAN NEVER FORGET LINDA MARIE JOHNS! I'm holding onto the memories and the many soup recipes she shared with me.
Mrs. Johns held a very special place in my heart and was my favorite patient. She will forever be missed. She always had kind words for me when she came in to the office no matter how bad she felt. She put up a great fight! My love and prayers go out to her family.
Dear Dwight, Bryan, Eric & Family, -- I just received notification and very sorry that I missed Linda's Homegoing service and her life celebration. She and I were close co-workers at DOE/NNSA for many years as well as carpool/vanpool mates. We shared many stories about our family and kids. She may be gone from your sight, but never from your heart. Love lives on forever in each memory and thought of those who have shared our lives and all the happiness they have brought. Linda was a special friend. May the love of friends and family give you comfort in this difficult time.

Linda in Defense Programs, NNSA, DOE, many years ago. She was a dear friend, a dedicated and loyal employee, and would do anything she could for anyone who needed it. I know she loved her family dearly. I didn't know she was ill. I retired in 2007 and didn't keep in touch, much to my dismay. May you find comfort in knowing that she is
no longer in pain and is finally at rest with our Heavenly Father.

Linda was always that sweet voice of reason when travel arrangements went array at the Department of Energy. At a moments notice she would assist anyone. I met Linda when I first arrived at DOE in 2013, and she was a Godsent, but she eventually became much more than that...she was always someone I valued speaking too, loved hearing about her Florida plans, was sorry to hear about her Feb surgery and someone who I truly missed seeing in office once she could not longer come in. Linda would give me back door Geico short cut advice/directions and just always impart needed words of wisdom and sweetness on every occasion I spoke to her. To often in the world today we get so wrapped up in accomplishing tasks and getting the job done, but she always took the time and she will be dearly missed.
