Leonard Lake Blevins' Obituary
Leonard Lake Blevins, 81, of Spotsylvania County departed this life very peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Mary Washington Hospital. He was born in Harford, Maryland on February 6, 1935 and was raised in Grassy Creek, North Carolina.
Mr. Blevins retired after a long career with Northern Neck Distributing Company where he was a driver and salesman. He was later a tap system installation technician. Leonard was also a very talented mechanic and built NHRA Pro Stock Drag Racing cars and engines for many years. He loved his family, friends, animals, music, NASCAR, sports, life and people in general.
Leonard is survived by his son, Michael Ray Blevins, of Spotsylvania; his sister, Dorothy Louise Webster of West Jefferson, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Reynolds of Dahlgren; four brothers-in-law, Robert Cox, Jr. (Gloria), Thomas Cox, and Wayne Cox (Rhonda), all of King George County and Richard Cox (Felicia) of Fallston, Maryland; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews. He is also survived by his beloved family of no blood relation which includes, Michelle and Gregg Woolf, Chris Woolf, Rachel Monk (Ricky), and little Alice Irene Monk, who was born this past New Years Day.
He was preceded on his journey by the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Marjorie Cox Blevins; his parents, Myrtle Belle Brinegar Blevins and Thomas Jewel Blevins; his mother-in-law, Hazel Namore Heflin Cox; his father-in-law, Robert Odell Cox, Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Doris Lee Cox.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2016 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in the funeral home’s chapel with the Reverend David Russell officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers listed are Gregg Woolf, Chris Woolf, Ricky Monk, Doug Jeter, and John Ruby.
