Kenneth McHenry Sheppard's Obituary
With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Kenneth McHenry Sheppard, who departed this life on July 8, 2026, at the age of 72, at his home in Warrenton, Virginia.
Born on June 5, 1954, in Fauquier, Virginia, Kenny was the beloved son of the late Sarah White and Lewis White. Throughout his life, he exemplified humility, integrity, and unwavering faith, leaving a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know him.
Kenny was a member of Rising Zion Baptist Church of Jeffersonton, Virginia, where he faithfully served as a trustee. His love for God was reflected in the way he lived each day—with compassion, generosity, and a servant's heart. Whether lending a helping hand, offering words of encouragement, or quietly meeting the needs of others, Kenny never hesitated to put others before himself. His gentle spirit, warm smile, and genuine kindness made everyone feel welcomed and valued.
Known for his remarkable work ethic and steadfast dedication, Kenny was a man who believed in doing every job with excellence. Gifted with exceptional mechanical ability, he could repair just about anything and was often the first-person family, friends, and neighbors called whenever something needed fixing. He took great pride in helping others, never seeking recognition—only the satisfaction of making someone's day a little easier.
Kenny graduated from Culpeper High School in 1975. While still a student, he began working at Atlas Machine and Iron Works, where he faithfully dedicated 10 years of service. He later joined Warrenton Heating & Air, where he worked for an additional 37 years. To his coworkers, Kenny was far more than an employee—he was family. He became the true "fixture" of the company, admired for his dependability, vast knowledge, quiet leadership, and unwavering commitment.
Beyond the workplace, Kenny became a familiar and beloved figure throughout the Warrenton community. His friendly personality, warm conversations, and willingness to help anyone earned him the affectionate nickname, "The Mayor." Whether stopping to chat with friends, lending a helping hand, or simply brightening someone's day with his presence, Kenny never met a stranger. His genuine spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Outside of work, Kenny found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an accomplished bowler who proudly achieved the rare milestone of rolling two perfect 300 games. He also loved spending time in his garden and enjoyed firing up the grill to prepare meals for family and friends. Whether tending his garden, grilling for loved ones, or lending a helping hand, Kenny found happiness in bringing people together and making others smile. Above all, Kenny treasured the relationships he built throughout his life. His love, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering presence enriched the lives of countless family members, friends, neighbors, church members, and coworkers. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Kenny leaves to cherish his precious memory, his siblings, James Sheppard (Cynthia), Ronald White (Brenda), Wayne White (Ramona), Edward White, Mark White, and Maxine Peterson (Derek); his brother-in-law, Walter Robinson; his beloved aunt, Louise Neal; along with a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by his love and kindness.
In addition to his parents, Kenny was welcomed into eternal rest by his sisters, Linda Robinson and Patricia Jean Sheppard and a host of beloved aunts and uncles who preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Kenny's Life will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
