Ken Stevens Abel's Obituary
Ken S. Abel, 52, of Stafford County, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Ken’s work on earth is done. He is having a grand reunion with his Mom and Dad, William and Margaret Anne Abel and friends he hasn’t seen in a long time.
Ken never met a stranger – just friends he hadn’t talked to yet. He had the rare gift for making others feel seen, heard, and better for having crossed his path. His positive impact stretched far and wide, though he would have brushed it off and changed the subject if you mentioned it.
Ken was a loyal friend, the kind you could count on in good times, bad times, and those “I probably shouldn’t have made this decision” times. Many of his best stories began with, “I said to myself, self…….” Which always led to wisdom, laughter or lessons learned the hard way but always made for a great story.
Ken appreciated the finer things in life, particularly people, laughter and good glass of Grand Marnier. If there was music playing, Ken was dancing. He believed life was meant to be enjoyed, preferably with conversation, connection and maybe one more drink. Life is better left to chance; we could have missed the pain but we would have had to miss the dance.
Though his time with us was shorter than any of us wanted, his presence was large, his love genuine, and his absence deeply felt.
Ken will be missed by all who loved him, laughed with him, learned from him, danced with him and will forever hear, “I said to myself, self…” echoing in their heads before making questionable decisions.
Rest easy, Brother. You were loved. You mattered. You carried a piece of our heart with you and our love always. Wanda & Debbie
