Joyce Ann Short's Obituary
Joyce Ann Short, 83, of Culpeper, VA, died peacefully on March 24, 2025, surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Warrenton, VA. She was born on July 23, 1941, in Washington, DC.
Joyce was a charter and lifetime member of the Reva Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. She was in the EMS field for 40+ years. Joyce also previously worked as an assistant for 5+ years at Culpeper Baptist Child Development Center. Joyce enjoyed ceramics, cross-stitching, baking, and camping at Colonial Beach.
She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Randall (Orhan); stepdaughters, Janice Craigue and Rebecca White; grandchildren, Holly Hatcher (Corey), Allison Abedrabo (Haytham), Amanda Green, Abby Green, TJ White, and Jeremy Clark; and great-grandchildren, James Hatcher, Noah Hatcher, Hannah Abedrabo, Sarah Abedrabo, Layla Abedrabo, Jayden Jones, Mason Alexander, and Jesai Tapscott.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Francis “Frank” Short; and her parents, Preston and Rena Hunt.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Peppers Grill, 791 Madison Road, Culpeper, VA 22701, at 11:00 a.m. on May 2, 2025.
