John Westley Lewis' Obituary
John Westley “Johnny” Lewis, 70, of Culpeper went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Fauquier Hospital. He was born November 4, 1941 in Brandy Station to the late Harvey and Edith Kemper Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was a member of Shiloh Brandy Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Trustee. He loved his church and was a member of the men’s choir as well as President of the men’s ministry. He worked as a machine operator for Tyco, formerly known as Rochester Rope, for 38 years. He was a very generous, loving, kind person who would do anything for anyone. Mr. Lewis was known for his sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Estelle Lewis, two children, Rodney Lee Lewis and his wife, Kimberly of Culpeper and Beverly A. Lewis-Minor and her husband, Rev. Timothy of Culpeper, five grandchildren, Tiffany Young, Tiara Young, Tamra Young, Tameika Bache and Timothy Gary Minor and one great grandchild, Rodney DeAndre Jones
Additional survivors include six siblings, Zelma Carr, Demetria Glasco and her husband, John, Antonia Boyd and her husband, Raymond, Alberta Windbush, Patricia Wolley and Ann Lacy and her husband, Albert. He is also survived by two aunts, Laura Mack and Dorothy Warner, and one uncle, William Dennis. His memory will be cherished by a host of other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Cora Powell, Henretta Lewis, Frances Sykes, Harvey K. Lewis and Roger Lewis.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. A time of reflection will be held from 7 to 8 pm.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 12 pm at Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Center with Rev. Reese Washington officiating. There will be an hour visitation prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
