Dear Sister Estelle Lewis and Family:
The entire congregation of Oak Grove Baptist Church joins me in extending heartfelt sympathy on the home going of Brother John W. Lewis.
Know that the very sorrow which now grieves you will be turned into joy. God not only takes away the bitterness and gives sweetness in its place, but turns the bitterness into sweetness itself. Jeremiah 31:13 tells us “for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow”.
According to 2 Corinthians 5:1, 6-8 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. The bible also tells us in Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
I want to assure you that your fellow worshippers are praying for your entire family as you go through this difficult time, and I know the same God who has helped you with past trials, will never leave nor forsake you during this one as well.
Please remember as God has told us in Psalms 30:5 “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning”.
With great compassion,
Rev. Perry P. Gardner
Pastor

May God be with you all during this difficult time. May you rest in His peace which passes all understanding knowing that we will see Johnny again.
Beverly and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I know that he is at peace and suffering no longer, find comfort in God and each other. Fill your heart with the wonderful memories and smile like he would want. God Bless you all in this difficult time.

Uncle Johnny had a way of making me feel like we had a special relationship, but I found out he had special relationships with everybody! Everytime I would see him, I would say :"sing that song" and he would start singing "Cooling Water". I will never forget that Uncle Johnny dance. When the music would get good to him, he would start slapping himself in the chest. I will never forget his jokes and hearty laugh. Jesus has fixed it, like he said he would and you are now home. I will miss you in the flesh, but you will always be with me in spirit and in the love we share of good down home gospel music.
I love you and see you later,

We will always love you but God Loved you more. Rest in peace my "Dear Brother", you will forever live in our hearts.
