My thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this sad time in their lives. John was one of the friendliest people I had ever met. He always had a smile on his face and was always there whenever I needed help. I have known John for a long time, since he was dating Miss Reynolds and my dad was at Commonwealth Park. My mother (Betty/Elizabeth) worked at Verizon with his mom June and they would exchange stories since John and I were close in age! Rest in peace my friend until we meet again.

Karen Fleming Lowery (Class of 1981)
I was so saddened to see that yet another one of the fresh and hopeful class of 1981 has left this earth too soon. Although different from the athletic circle in our class, I was acquainted with John and could recognize the qualities that made him so very popular. My heart goes out to his family and to all of us who were honored to know him during what truly was too brief a time. May you be comforted by the fond memories you hold dear today and in the days to come. Know that this is not the end, that through a relationship with Jesus Christ, you will be reunited again.
