Our best memories of John is how much he loved and cherished friends. Even when he was sick we would get a beautiful poinsettia for Christmas. Wayne particularly enjoyed seeing him at the coffee group. What a special man. You will be missed. Much love, Wayne and Patricua Hawkins

Wish you and your family prayers and comfort at this time.

John Lee was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was an encouraging, patriotic, gentle soul who had a kind word for everyone. We will miss him greatly but the angels in heaven are rejoicing. Margaret and Larry Buraker
I will miss seeing Mr. Durant and giving him a hug as he walks into church. He will be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

To the family of John Lee Durant:
I met John Lee at New Salem Baptist Church a number of years ago and developed a lasting friendship. He was a kind, warm caring individual one who always had time to greet and speak with everyone he met. Several years ago he had a park bench placed beneath the church flagpole that I had donated. On more than one occasion he offered my wife and I his home in Key West as a place to vacation. As a veteran of a later era (Korea) I salute his distinguished service to our country during World War Two and I shall miss seeing him at both Memorial Day and Veterans Day Ceremonies. In my opinion he was truly a great man. May God Bless each of you.
