A friend for many years and many great moments. Joni's laughter and wit was unforgettable. Though I'm and sadden by the loss, I am looking forward to meeting again in The House of The Lord.
This was such a shock to hear. We talked in March hoping to connect soon. I have so many memories with her when I was a teenager. When she came to live with my family, I was a teenager and she was unlike anyone I had met. She was so fun, crazy and young. I loved having her live with us. I know she loved my family & I so much and wanted to come visit. Thankful for the couple times over recent years we were able to met up! I know this is hard on the Powell family. Hugs.
We are so sorry to hear of the loss of our dear Joni. We are a group of friends who meet Monday’s and Tuesday’s, and sometimes, Wednesday’s, too at the Marshall Center for Senior Activities.
We will remember Joni as a sweet funny and happy young lady. Whether she assisted us at the game room or line dancing, she was there to spread her JOY, as well.
We will miss her and she will never be forgotten.
We will keep Joni and Family in our thoughts and prayers. We will remember her stories.

I'm saddened by the news of Joni's passing. She is one of the first people I met when I moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland and I actually met my wife to be in Joni's townhouse. She actually introduced me to many people who are still my friends to this day. Joni was absolutely one of the best singers I've ever heard, and one of my favorite memories of her is both of us belting out and free-flowing "Amazing Grace" together. We did that all the time, and it still brings me much joy when I think about it. She sang in my wedding, and of course sounded like an angel. She is now, singing before her Savior, no longer walking by faith, but by sight... seeing Him as He is.
