Jessie Owen Hatch's Obituary
Jessie Owen Hatch, Departed this world on May 29th 2011 at Bishops Glenn Retirement Community, Holly Hill, Florida. She was born in Ottawa Ontario, Canada on June 21, 1920. She retired in 1978 from Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories, Chalk River, Ontario, after 26 years as a Consultant Assistant.
She always said she was blessed to be a part of three wonderful families.
Weston was her birth family. She is survived by one brother, Ken Weston and his wife, Faith of London, Ontario, Canada, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Weston; her sisters, Doris Hyde and Elsie Gillet and her brothers, Allen, George and David Weston.
A heartfelt thanks to Weston Hyde for faithfully visiting his aunt in the nursing home.
Jessie married Edmund Owen June21, 1941. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Found and her husband, Doug Found of Lake Anna; three grandsons, Stephen Douglas Found of Culpeper, Samuel Richard Found of Spotsylvania County and Scott Owen Found of Culpeper and two great-granddaughters, Julie Anne Found of Richmond and Jill Alexander Found of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edmund Owen in 1980.
She married Frank Charles Hatch, October 12, 1982. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Carol Maccabe and her husband, Russell (Win) of New Hampshire, a step granddaughter, Cheryl Stockman and her husband, Chris and their daughters, Ryann and Jordan all of Massachusetts; her step grandson, Keith Maccabe and his wife, Kara and their children, Nolan and Reese of Richmond, Virginia. Joan Hatch, widow of Frank Hatch Jr.; her step grandchildren, Kenneth, Frank, Edward and Kristine and their spouses, seven step great-grandchildren and one step great-great grandchild, all of California. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Frank Charles Hatch in 2005 and her stepson, Frank Hatch, Jr.
She was a wonderful Christian lady and played the piano in church for many years. Jessie loved to listen to and sing religious music. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens in years past. Jessie spent her spare time working on needle work and crafts. We all have samples of her wonderful creations in our homes. She loved Florida and has considered it home for the past 30 some years. Jessie loved talking to people, enjoyed a good laugh and had many friends.
Jessie’s family will receive friends Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel-Cremation Service, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper.
Jessie’s family requests that in lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Alzheimer’s Association, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
