I am so sorry to hear this news. Sarah and Jeremy, my deepest condolences. I worked with Jerry for almost 8 years, he was my first boss and gave me such a great education. He was warm and thoughtful, truly caring about people. He came to my wedding and the baptism of my oldest child. One thing we all knew for certain was how fiercely he loved his family, and the excitement with which he welcomed his grandchildren was contagious. Its been a few years since I had a chance to see him, but fond memories of my time working with him, as I was just starting out will never be forgotten.

He was a joy to be around always adding a little humor to any situation we were involved in. He had a genuine love for his family, friends, customers, and community. Dear Raines family. I was a classmate with Jerry at Montevideo High School as well as a friend during activites at Mill Creek Youth groups. I remember Jerry as a strong and sensitive person. He was admired by old and young alike. In reading these beautiful and heartfelt tributes, I wish I had known him after high school. My college life took me to NorthCarolina and then to Boston where I live today. I look back now and think of Jerry as an "old soul" when we were young. What a pleasant and welcoming personality. While our relationship was mostly business oriented, one could not engage with Jerry but consider him as a friend. His smile and gracious manner were absolutely contagious. Hopeful that all good memories flood in to dull the hurt of his loss to Wendy, children, and his many friends.

I had the pleasure of working at the CC of Culpeper when Mr. Raines was the board president. He always treated me, my staff, and the work we did with respect and care. I will keep fond memories and will always have respect for Jerry. When I was a teen hanging out at the house, he made me feel welcome at all times but he had rules and he held me accountable on more than one account. That’s a good dad. He will be missed and my prayers go out to Jeremy and Sarah.
