I was a young electricians helper at Cross Electric around 1987ish. Jerry was my boss, he was tough - but he taught me how to be tough as well. I think about that time in my life, young and trying to find my way...I am still convinced a young man should spend 2 years on a construction site. Once story in particular, we were digging under a footer in Dulles Airport and I had a digging bar that weighed about 12 lbs...I was filthy dirty and he laughed so hard and said, "I finally got you dirty!" My arms cramped so bad they immediately folded into my chest. I no longer work in that field or live in VA, but know that he is still thought about from time to time.

I've just found out a few minutes ago that our dear friend Jerry Allport had passed on
It's a shame that we have yet lost another friend way to soon. Many years of friendship, bowling,, working, enjoying all the good time over the years.
Rest in Peace My Friend.

It was a shock to see that Jerry had passed. My husband Mike and I loved bowling with him and the Woodbridge crew. I am sure there are a lot of people that will miss Jerry along with Myself and Mike. Condolences to his family.

Yet another one of the old Gar-Field crowd gone way to soon. I haven't seen Jerry in a lot of years, but he was a darn good guy. Same age as me at 62, so much living left to do. My heart felt condolences to Jerry's family. Very sorry for your loss. May God rest his soul.

I will miss Jerry the remaining years I have left. He became a brother to me and losing a family member is never easy. Our home and hearts have a hole in them that he once filled. This Saturday we will pay tribute to him, at the bar he built at my house . We will raise a glass to him and christen the Bar as

This will be after the service which begins at noon this Saturday

This post took our breath away! Mark and I are so very sad for the loss of this gentle man! We had so many great times bowling with Jerry and the Crew....Many evenings playing poker as well! May you rest in peace, our friend....say Hi to Bobby for us! We will miss you greatly! Prayers for the family during this very difficult time!

Jerry was a good guy. Always willing to give advice and spend time with you if you needed it or if he thought you needed it. Others spoke of his stern demeanor but I found him to be a gentle soul. I'm going to miss ole' Jerry. He always called T Smalls and admired anyone with computer skills. I will remember the talks concerning the difference in kids today and the way we were raised in our times. I never took time for him to teach me to play poker, but he said "You would be good at it, you're good with those numbers". So long Jerry maybe we'll go fishing together up high.
