James Maupin "Mope" Weedon's Obituary
James Maupin “Mope” Weedon, 66, of Richardsville, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.
Mope was a proud Marine who served in Vietnam. He was also a free-spirited, truck-driving hippy. Mope had a long career driving tractor-trailers. He was also a philosopher of life. Maupin always had profound words of wisdom to share. He had a deep love for music and appreciated a wide variety of genres. Mope also enjoyed photography and his family will cherish the collection of photographs he leaves behind.
He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. Mope was a father figure to many and his door was always open to his children’s friends. He never judged and was very easy to talk to. Mope will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Maupin is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy, his children, Jimmy (Marie), Jeremy (Julie), and Jessica (Curtis), and eight grandchildren, Darius, Shelby, Noah, Harley, Steven, Shaela, Anthony and Brooklyn.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Richardsville United Methodist Church, 29235 Richards Ferry Rd, Richardsville. A homecoming celebration will follow immediately after the service at Richardsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, 29361 Eleys Ford Rd, Richardsville.
Condolences may be shared with his family online at foundandsons.com.
