James "Jack" Robert Fincham's Obituary
James Robert "Jack" Fincham of Rapidan passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, at Culpeper Health and Rehab. He was born in Rappahannock County, Virginia on June 11, 1932, to Robert and Annie Fincham.
Jack retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation and was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed trout fishing, gardening, and sharing his bounty of vegetables with family and friends. He was well known for his expert walnut cracking skills and his yard sales. He always had a treasure trove of items for his yard sale shoppers and drove a hard bargain. He was Uncle Jack to many little ones. His heart was always with his family and raising Black Angus Cattle on the family farm. He loved helping Debbie with all of her critters and putting the ducks and guineas up every night.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded by his wife, Barbara Clatterbuck Fincham, siblings Jean Shaffer, Margaret Ann Lee, Ruth Kilby, Pauline Jenkins, and Billy Fincham. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Fincham of Rapidan, brother Joe Fincham (Irma Jean), and sister, Doris Creel (Gordon), brother-in-law Carroll Clatterbuck (Pauline), and a host of nieces and nephews, dear friends and grandkittles.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Reformation Lutheran Church, 601 Madison Road, Culpeper VA, with Pastor Brad Hales officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 am before the service, Graveside service will follow immediately after at Fairview Cemetery, 822 Sperryville Pike. A time of fellowship will follow at Rock Hill Farm, 14461 Norman Road, Culpeper VA, 11:30 - 1:30 pm.
A special thank you to Gordon Creel for all of your hard work on our farm these past two years. Your "porch sits" with Daddy, and especially your friendship meant the world to him. A heartfelt thank you to Doris Creel for making his favorite recipes, keeping his spirits lifted and happy, always being available for trips, both fun and necessary, and especially for being by his side in his final moments. Thank you to our family and friends for loving and supporting us through this difficult time.
We so appreciate all of the love, care, and support from Hospice of the Piedmont for taking such good care of Daddy so he could remain at home.
Jack had a "beefy" handshake that will never be forgotten, as well as his huge smile and huge heart. He was so special to all of us that had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
Pallbearers will be Collis Jenkins, Gordon Creel, Keith Jenkins, Kurt Jenkins, Ronnie Lee, Travis Stanley, Chad Lee and Marcus Tharp.
Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Faulkner, Jimmy Murray, Bill Jenkins, Jeff Pearson and Cindy Sims Pearson.
In lieu of flowers and because of Jack's love for cats, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to MAD Cats, 53 Robinson Lane, Madison VA 22743, or to Rapidan Volunteer Fire Department, 9729 Locust Dale Road, Rapidan, VA 22733.
