James Edwards Caroon's Obituary
James Edwards Caroon, 92, of Culpeper died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Dogwood Village of Orange. He was born August 11, 1923 in Pamlico County, NC to the late St. Elmo and A. Edwards Caroon.
Mr. Caroon was owner and operator of the Firestone dealership here in Culpeper for over 35 years until University Firestone took ownership. During his retirement he worked with the Holden Group Real Estate for almost 15 years. Mr. Caroon was a long time member in good standing of the Lions Club of Culpeper Dawn, a 32° Master Mason, Great Bridge Lodge 257 also attended meeting locally with the Fairfax Lodge 43 in Culpeper, he was a Companion in Good Standing with the Shriners Fairfax Royal Arch #13.
He is survived by two sons, James E. Caroon, Jr. and his wife, Joy of The Villages, FL and Wayne L. Caroon and his wife, Nancy of Culpeper; three siblings, Tom Caroon and his wife, Linda, Hellen Hardison and Glenda “Honeysuckle” O’Neal, all of NC; two sisters-in-law, Irma and Lottie Caroon; three grandchildren, Kristie Hagney and her husband, Frank, James E. “Jason” Caroon, III and his wife, Yvonne and Wayne L. “Chip” Caroon, Jr. and his wife, Liz; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frazier Caroon; five brothers, S.E., Bob, Reginald, Darrell and Cash Caroon; and two brothers-in-law, Elton Hardison and Louis O’Neal.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
