Growing up on Madison Street in Culpeper, where my parents and my uncle Gene, his wife Nancy and their son Buddy, lived side by side in that wonderful neighborhood are vivid wonderful memories I hold.
Gene was my Dad’s youngest brother. I grew up watching Gene work minimum of 6 days a week, probably all 7. On his day off, Gene would work his garden and spend time with family. He was a sort after home builder who went to the school of “hard knocks “ and made himself into a highly respected builder.
Last time I saw my uncle was a Wal-Mart in Culpeper. He was wearing his Army Veteran Hat, as he proudly served this United States of America. Gene shared with me that day his concern for our present lack of respect for law and order and said he prayed for the children.
Gene was a true Culpeper native, loved hunting and talking about the good old days at Raccoon Ford, Brandy, Lignum, you name it he had a story.
Rest In Peace Gene you earned it.
