I met Griffin when my family moved to Spotsylvania around 2001. Griffin and I rode the same bus while we attended Spotsylvania Middle School. Although we lost touch over the years I can still see his young, bright, smiling face just as clear as day in mind. He was so funny and had such a great heart. I will always treasure him as one of my favorite memories from middle school. I did not handle our family's move too well and I can tell you that Griffin's joy and laughter was something that gave me strength during that difficult time. I appreciate who he was for me even at such a young age. I will keep praying for your family as you mourn his loss. Griffin was so much more than I could possibly write in this box. I remember him as being a vivacious, loving, funny, hardworking, and incredibly compassionate being. Deepest condolences to Rob, Martha, and Darby. No one should have to know this particular kind of sorrow.

I remember Conor introducing me to two cool kids at Hazelwild Summer camp. He said, "Mom, meet Griffin and Darby, my new friends."
This may have been around 1999. I Remember like it was yesterday.

As parents of two UMW students we cannot imagine your loss. Our daughter, Emily, lived next-door to Griffin and is a member of the women"s lacrosse team. Our son, Will, recently transferred to the university and quickly became a friend of Griffin's. Will and Emily said Griffin was a giving and warm-hearted person. He was generous, thoughtful and tried to make people feel included and happy. The Atkinson family will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

John, Johnny and I were saddened to hear about the passing of Griffin. John had the privilege of coaching Griffin over the years and we all enjoyed watching him become a great lacrosse player but more importantly a fine young man.
