Gil was my farrier for decades and will be sorely missed. He was just one of my favorite people.
I met Mr.Stephenson when I worked for 7 eleven...he would stop in for his coffee and lotto,etc....Being a staunch quarter horse man,he never held it against me that I rode a walking horse...Mr.Stephenson you will be missed by so many...my thoughts are with his family in these trying times...
Tremendously missed, never forgotten. A gentle, kind soul always with a smile and a joke. The hole in all our hearts is huge and we will fill it up with all our wonderful memories of Gil. Our sincerest sympathies to all who loved him.

Have known Gil since 1972, met him at Powhatan acres horse show he was my pick up man for rider pick up placing first. Since then he has been a friend, farrier, horse whisperer such a kind gentle person that got along with all who knew him and had a special way with animals especially horses. He always said if you love what you do you never work a day in your life, he passed away doing what he loved. We will surely miss him. He's working in Gods stables now. RIck and Judie Graham

So sorry to hear of Gil's passing, he shoed our horses for years when we live in Hartwood
and was always a real gentlemen and pleasure to be around. My prayers and sympathy to his family. RIP Gil. Marilyn Pocock-Embrey
Gil was a character and good friend. We loved having Gil and Paula as neighbors. Gil would always give me information on my horse. He was always so much fun to be around. He loved his family and horses. Gil took care of my horse when the veterinarians' gave up. My horse was only walking on 3 legs. He took him to his barn and soaked his leg two times daily. He had my horse there for 3 months. Joe finally started using his leg and when all was done he was in good shape and would run and play with his horse friend. Will always remember Gil's kindness. He was a horse whisperer and would always tell me how to communicate with my horses. Hope you are helping God take care of his animals in heaven.
Love the Blessingers.
I used to run PWHA, back in 1990-1994 and Gil used to bring his younger horses over for training and schooling. He was always a pleasure to chat with and a gentleman to be around. Since then, I would run into him on occasions at different farms where he was shoeing and it was always as if time stood still and we picked right back up, where we left off. He was a kind, sweet and a gentle man and he loved his horses. He will be missed. Love, hugs and prayers to the family and loved ones. 😘🙏🙏
Met Gil 30 years ago...first my farrier and then my teacher. Always enjoyed my ride-alongs with him. Always smiling, telling jokes and reading Louis L'Amour books. RIP gentle man! We'll meet again.
Took Gil to a Nationals ballgame a few years ago. Whether he was in my store or riding to the ballgame, he only spoke of three things. His family, the horses, or the Washington Nationals. Always was impressed by his enthusiasm and his work ethic. Will be missed. Doug at Rappahannock Stationi
